At the farm Breiðabólstaður in West Iceland, we have made contract with the landowner to plant 2000 trees for every car we operate. Since 2005, the landowner has planted ower one million trees and that number keeps increasing.
The Carbon Neutral program that Happy Campers started in 2011 is just the beginning and will continue with the business. As a car rental company, we recognize that significant part of our footprint is related to our cars and camper van fleet. Therefore, we have taken the responsibility to carbon neutralize our fleet and, morover, taken the extra step to carbon neutralize for more cars than just our own cars. In 2012, Happy Campers will be the first car rental company in Iceland to carbon neutralize its entire fleet, by planting 2000 trees for every car we operate.

Safe Travel
All mountain roads and roads in the interior of Iceland have a surface of loose gravel. The same applies to large sections of the national highway, which also has long stretches of asphalt. The surface on the gravel roads is often loose, especially along the sides of the roads, so one should drive carefully and slow down whenever approaching an oncoming car. The mountain roads are also often very narrow, and are not made for speeding.

Actual make and model may vary and is subject to availability at the time of delivery and we therefore reserve the right to deliver a similar vehicle. Similar vehicle means your rental vehicle will fullfil the requirements of the vehicle class and vehicle type you booked. Our camper vans are not brand new, but well maintained and in very good condition.
The rental price includes unlimited milage, 25,5 % VAT tax, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), beddings ( sheet, 2 pillows, 2 duvets / sleeping bags, all cutlery, pot, - basically everything you need to cook, eat and sleep in the camper van. Please review terms and conditions before booking a rental car.
Our Happy Campers camper vans DO NOT have toilets or shower facilities. The reason is that our goal is to make our camper vans as simple as possible to operate and drive. Showers and travel toilets requires a lot of space and it is complicated to operate. But do not worry, - in Iceland there are many gas stations and small shops and restaurants where you can use the toilet facilities. You can also find our famous geothermal swimming pools in almost every small village around the island where you can swim, shower, go the hot tubs etc. for a very small fee. Most campgrounds also offer good facilites for tourists to use. This is the reason we decided to not to have toilets and shower in our camper vans.

Collision Damage Waiver ( CDW ) is included in the rental price which limits the lessee´s / drivers liability to a certain amount. The liability amount is Iskr. 200.000,- for each accident. Please review the terms & conditions before booking a rental car.
Super Collision Damage Waiver ( SCDW ) reduces the lessee´s / driver´s liability further than CDW. The libility amount reduces from Iskr. 200.000,- to Iskr. 60.000,- for each accident. This is an optional uppgrade of the CDW insurance.
Gravel Protection ( GP ) is an optional damage waiver which covers damages from gravel roads to the body of the car, the headlights and teh front windscreen.
Theft Protection (TP) is included in our basic insurance, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). Terms and conditions of the CDW insurance can be found at our website. CDW is a Motor hull insurance that compensates for example for the damage, destruction and loss of the vehicle. CDW does not cover personal belongings lost, damaged or stolen.

All rentals are paid on arrival. Payment is by credit card only and the credit card is charged when you pick up the car.

Yes you can make changes any time you want. Please let us know soon as possible by sending us an e-mail to book@happycamper.is. Remember to include your reservation number which you can find in the confirmation e-mail. There are no changes fee.

We offer free pick-up service to our customers in the greater Reykjavik area and Keflavik international airport. Our employee will pick you up and giveyou a ride to our office to pick-up your rental car. This service is available 24/7.
Yes it is possible for an extra fee. Please make sure to let us know so someone can be at the office when you return.
If the rental car is not returned with a full tank of fuel, then we will charge the renter for the fuel + fee for filling it up.
Our employee will wait for you at the arrival hall at the airport, holding a sign with the Happy Campers logo and your name on it. Please approach our employee and tell him/her your name. They will take you by the shuttle bus to our office in Reykjavik, approx. 30 - 40 minute drive from the airport.
Yes, we offer free pick-up service 24/7. We will be there as long as you have made the pick-up service request when making the reservation.
